Join cyclists from all around the United States and beyond for the first annual SUMMERFIX, a three day cycling event set amongst the streets and alleys of Los Angeles. The event kicks off on Friday with a party in Culver City at the Brick Building. Then on Saturday check out the trick competition and after party. Finally on Sunday cruise West LA trick spots, race at the Chubby Boob Stage Race in Mt Hollywood, then relax in Griffith Park with some BBQ. More info here.

Extravaganza for the Senses

The 13th Annual Extravaganza for the Senses food and wine event will be held at Sunset Gower Studios on July 17 to benefit The Saban Free Clinic (formerly the Los Angeles Free Clinic). More than 40 LA restaurants plus 80 wineries will offer unlimited samples to attendees. The event will also feature music by DJ Scott Silva, a photo booth, fortune readings, and a silent auction. Tickets cost $100 for general admission, $225 for VIP. All net proceeds go to support the Saban Free Clinic.
Outdoor Cinema Food Fest
Downtown Los Angeles (6-11pm)
Experience the Outdoor Cinema Food Fest featuring some of the best food trucks in Los Angeles along with outdoor movies on a huge 40 foot screen. It’s the ultimate picnic in the park – no basket required! Kick back and enjoy your gourmet street food in a beautiful park under the stars. The venue normally associated with the famous Dodger Dog will feature a host of L.A.’s most popular food trucks offering up their mobile culinary delights to hungry shoppers. The L.A. Flea Market will celebrate its grand opening at Dodger Stadium with India Jones, Dosa, Slice Truck, Mandoline Grill, Canter’s Deli, Border Grill, Komodo, Fresh Fries, Crepe’n Around, Reggae Chicken, Cool Haus ice cream sandwiches, Tropical Shave Ice and Del’s Lemonade. General admission with parking is $5; early bird tickets are $10-$15, VIP tickets are $15, and kids under 12 are free.
Tequila Taste Too
West LA (1-4pm)
The Wine House is hosting Tequila Taste Too, their second annual tequila festival. It is a walk around event, with each tequila table hosted by the producer and/or tequila ambassador. This event offers an easy atmosphere where guests taste examples of blanco, reposado, anejo and ultra anejo tequilas, as well as high end mezcals and specialty tequilas. The general response last year was it was as informative as it was fun. Executive chef, Todd Barrie will feature Mexican Tapas…samplings of gourmet quesadillas, chicken flautas, mole, barbecue, salads, tacos, etc. Plus, some mixed drinks. Casa Noble will be pouring organic margaritas (their tequila is organic, plus lime juice and agave nectar). Leblon Cachaça will also host a multiple flavor caipirinha table. There’s no better opportunity for us non-golfers (and golfers) to check out the beautiful Trump National Golf Club in Racho Pales Verdes. Downtown Culver City Summer Block Parties are among LA’s best events this summer for people watching, grazing, sampling drinks and soaking in live entertainment. Barnsdall Fridays Wine Tasting

July 31 – Following the sold out LA Beer Festival, Drink:Eat:Play’s Block Party will once again bring together food trucks, beer, and music to our version of an old school block party, set to Paramount Studio’s New York Streets back lot. The event will offer attendees an opportunity to try various food trucks, sample hundreds of beers and check out bands. Admission is $40 for a three hour session (4pm to 7pm) or $50 for a four hour session (3pm to 7pm). Both sessions include unlimited beer, and food is sold separately. August 1 – Angeleno magazine’s 2010 Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards and 2008 James Beard award-winning food critic, Brad A. Johnson will host Angeleno’s Chefs Night Out Event & Awards. The event will celebrate Angeleno’s Annual Restaurant issue, which honors L.A.’s top chefs and restaurateurs. 400 guests, including chefs, restaurateurs & bon vivants. $150 gets you in early for an intimate reception with LA’s top chefs plus the awards ceremony. August 5 – International Beer Day is a celebration of beer’s greatness. Every August 5th we take a break from our everyday lives and take part in this beertastic elevation of the human spirit, through the drinking and appreciation of beer. On this day we celebrate the men, women, and organizations that being us the beers we love. Celebrate the Brewers and Breweries – who produce an enormous variety of delicious beers for us to enjoy, and celebrate the Bars and Bartenders – who serve us our beers and provide us a place to enjoy them. Events are expected to include: bar crawls, homebrew tours, barbeques, beer specials, and special beers.
August 12 – Enjoy an evening of fine cuisine, wine and spirits at the taste of Downtown Disney. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, passed apps, olive oil tasting and select wine, spirits, and beer pairings at Catal Restaurant & Uva Bar, ESPN Zone, House of Blues, La Brea Bakery, Naples Ristorante, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen and Tortilla Jo’s. August 21 – “Speakeasy” will take you back to a period where jazz, dance, and a free spiritedness defined the Roaring 20′s. The event (location will only be disclosed to pre-purchased ticket holders) will bring you back to the 20′s, complete with jazz bands, mixologists, and over 100 top brands of gin, bourbon, and scotch to sample from. Admission ($40) includes unlimited tastes from top of the line suppliers and an opportunity to try creations from LA’s top mixologists.
August 28 – The Santa Monica Food and Wine Festival features all you can drink wine, food and music. Taking place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, tickets are only $40.
September 2-5 – Food & Wine magazine has announced a new four-day food event. The “Taste of Beverly Hills,” will be held September 2, 2010 through September 5, 2010 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Taste of Beverly Hills is a four-day festival that will celebrate all things epicurean in ALL of Los Angeles. The festival will consist of everything from local restaurant tastings and live cooking demonstrations from world renown chefs, to a series of wine seminars from top vintners and live musical performances from award winning artists. Tickets for the daily events run $125-$150, all the way up to $500 for a 5 day pass.
Sept 4-Oct 3 – The LA County Fair returns to Pomona for one month, featuring a plethora of deep fried foods, turkey legs, corn dogs, live music, farm exhibits, horse racing, carnival rides, buildings full of vendors selling stuff you never knew you needed, and of course our favorite, the award winning wine garden. The most fun you’ll have this summer for only 10 bills.
September 5 – The First Los Angeles Times Celebration of Food and Wine is on Sunday Sept 5 from noon to 8pm at the Paramount Studios Back Lot. The one-day food and wine event will feature the best of the best from the culinary and beverage worlds. The Celebration will include the most popular local, national and international food personalities from print, radio, television and cable, as well as the best food from little “mom & pop” kitchens throughout Los Angeles. Throughout the day leading mixologists will create unique and artistic cocktail creations in addition to providing everyone with a taste from the finest microbeers and wines to rum, tequila, vodka and whiskey.
