Shatto 39 Lanes is a bowling god amongst a city of bowling alleys turned entertainment centers. There are no LCD screens playing music videos, no DJs spinning music, no silly animations on the score boards, no glow in the dark bowling. This is truly one of the last remaining old school bowling alleys left in Los Angeles, besides possibly All Star Lanes in Eagle Rock. They have 39 lanes, lined up side by side with 20 lanes on one side and the other 19 on the opposite side. With above ground ball returns, it’s a unique set up for a bowling alley. Evening prices per game are $4-$5, plus shoe rentals for an additional $2.50.

The above ground ball return is awesome.
They have an arcade full of games from the 80’s and 90’s, even foosball tables. Not to mention plenty of pool tables if bowling isn’t your game. The drinks at the bar are cheap ($4), and come dispensed from a single magic booze wand. The coffee shop is forgettable, nachos, hotdogs, chow mein, etc. So make sure you fill up on Korean BBQ before coming.
