I was amazed and entertained on Sunday at the Carson Civic Center by the “The Classical Four + 1″ Accordion Quartet.
They’re a string-style Accordion Quartet, accompanied by Percussionist Stuart Johnson from the Cousin Lovers. They play such works as: Astor Piazzolla, Dave Brubeck, Leroy Anderson, Vivaldi, Bach, Puccini, Strauss, Faure and Widor. (“String-style” means they play string quartet music or chamber music but all on Accordion) It’s music you’ll recognize, played in such a way you’ve probably never experienced.
