Pay attention, I’ve had these guys on my radar for a while. The Cold War Kids are performing tonight on Letterman and it’s just a matter of time before they become more popular. It’s not like they haven’t been semi-sucessful up to this point. But I remember when The Squirrel Nut Zippers were asked to perform on Letterman. They had attained mild sucess up to that point, but they really became “mainstream” once they were invited into the homes of people across America. Their unique style of blues infused indie rock is refreshing and a very good listen. I don’t want to compare them to Buckley, but I can’t help but think of him during songs like Robbers. They are back in LA in Jan with shows at Silverlake Lounge and Spaceland. Check ‘em out!
