I can see why it’s all the rage with chefs these days. Touting a fresh seasonal menu with items from the local farmer’s market is a real draw for lots of foodies. You never know what specials the chef will have on the menu. The chef favorites in town are of course the Santa Monica and Hollywood Farmer’s Market. But I really love the Larchmont Farmer’s market. A 100% certified organic market, they have lots of great vendors selling fresh veggies, fruits, juices, cheeses, breads, flowers, hummus dips, and much more. My favorite thing to do is grab a snack from Me Gusta Tamales and browse the isles, sample the fresh fruit and throw together a meal for the evening.

I had yet to try it, but there is a rotisserie chicken truck called Grill Masters there. You can always smell the rosemary and garlic roasted chicken as soon as you enter the market. So I picked up a half chicken for $6. Then, remembering I had some Mexican cheese and tortillas that I picked up at the Farmer’s Market at 3rd and Fairfax earlier in the week, I figured some chicken tacos were in order. Inspired by my recent tacos I had at Loteria Grill, I picked up some organic squash to add to the tacos too.
I shredded the chicken, then sauteed the zucchini in a pan with olive oil, salt and pepper for ten minutes or so. I grilled the tortillas to a nice crispy brown, as I like my corn tortillas a little well done. I assembled them with a sprinkle of Cholula hot sauce and Mexican cheese and they turned out quite amazing. They even rivaled those of Loteria Grill. With a total prep to plate time of less than 30 min, this is a quick and delicious lunch or dinner. Plus, a glass of Rusack Pinot Noir goes great with them too!
