I’ve read mixed reviews of 25 Degrees, the not so new gourmet burger joint at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Sort of a 50/50 thing when it comes to most chowhound opinions. People try and compare it to, say it’s not as good as, Father’s Office. It’s like comparing apples to, well… pears. With the FO burger, you get what you see. You order it, it’s good, but it’s never going to change. Some people prefer it that way. But I like a little variety. So I had to try it for myself and I wanted to take my parents to lunch someplace cool. I’m very happy I did…
We got there and sat down immediately (try that at FO.) We were greeted quickly, and began to look over the tasty looking menu. There was about a dozen different cheeses to choose from, gourmet toppings such as Shitake Mushrooms, Green Chili, Horseradish Cream, Lemon Dill, etc. You could eat there 30 times and never have the same burger twice. The fries came perfectly salted and garnished with dry thyme. The onion rings were deliciously lightly battered, and not too heavy. I ordered my burger with Midnight Moon, a smoky and tangy Gouda style cheese, a shitake mushroom, and horseradish cream. It was so scrumptious, juices squirted out as soon as I bit into it. The waitress was very attentive and the food came out fast, as they weren’t very busy.
My only complaint is that it came a little over cooked. I ordered it medium, but it came medium well. I might order it medium rare next time. Maybe with Red Hawk cheese, Dijon and bacon! I will definitely go back, especially on Sunday. Every Sunday is half off the half bottles of wine. (They don’t sell full bottles.) It’s a pretty expansive selection too, with some great california wineries to choose from. They also have a selection of shakes, malts, floats, and egg creams for dessert, but you’re not going to have room, trust me.

This place sounds a little like The Counter with all of the burger choices. 25 Degrees has quite the choice of cheeses

I have yet to go to the counter yet. I’ve been meaning to try it, but I don’t get to the west side very often.
