My fourth burger for National Burger Month was quickly consumed at D-Town Burger Bar in Downtown LA. The name is slightly deceiving. I couldn’t find a bar here at all. Maybe D-Town Burger Joint would have been a better name. Regardless, we made our way up to the counter in this 50’s inspired diner to order up from their small menu. The menu, similar to In & Out, is simple. Single, double, vegi, or hot dog. But that’s where my comparison to In & Out ends. The burgers themselves are more reminiscent of Johnny Rockets.

A flat beef patty, cooked through well done, between two nicely toasted white buns. Cheddar cheese, onions, tomatoes, pickles, and mayo. Despite being cooked well done, the meat managed to retain some juiciness, and had good flavor. It’s a pretty plain Jane burger. But for downtown it’s a good choice if you are craving a some meat and buns on your lunch hour.
The fries were hot and crisp, a mix of sweet and standard potato. The prices are slightly higher for what you get, say at In & Out, but weren’t entirely unreasonable. $6.75 for a cheese burger combo and $7.50 if you make it a double.
They have a daily happy hour from 4-7pm. $2 will get you onion rings, a small shake, chilli fries, a BLT, or grilled cheese sandwich. It’s a good spot to stop in if you need a cheap meal. Best thing is, they are open from 11am-11pm 7 days a week.

I pass by here pretty often on my way down to Spring for Coffee but I haven’t had the urge to stop there. I think Rowdy Red has some pretty good burgers and it’s just down the stairs for me. Thanks for the review though.
