Muddled Cocktails at Pagoda Bar

Not only does Yamashiro have the best views in Hollywood, they now have the bar with the best views too. After sprucing up the old bar, The Pagoda Bar serving specialty muddled drinks, re-opened recently at the historic restaurant in the hills above the hustle and bustle of Hollywood and Highland. Located just below the restaurant, overlooking the pool and the 600 year old pagoda, the bar boosts views like no other in town.

The bar is set up tastefully with cocktail tables, wicker padded seats, pillows covering benches around the perimeter of the bar, with heat lamps keeping the peeps warm. Lounge music and candles keep it low key for gatherings with friends and just romantic enough for a date.

Enjoy the classic Norman’s Mai Tai, 40 years in the making, or try one of their other inventive muddled drinks. The Mandarin Sayonara is a mix of mandarin vodka, muddled oranges, orange juice, champagne, and orange zest. Go for a Skinny Dip with light and crisp kissue rice vodka, muddled lychee nut, lychee juice and a splash of 7up. The Monkey House, named after the previous owner’s monkey house just below the pool area (the monkeys are since long gone), is served with sky passion fruit, fresh passionfruit puree, creme de banana, pineapple/orange juice, and cocoa flakes.

The Martini of Ill Repute gets its name from Yamashiro’s shady past during the great depression. It comes with kissue rice vodka, dirty olive juice, and topped with my appetizer for the night, edamame. Speaking of, their are no plans to serve food in the bar area, but the restaurant is just a few steps away. Download the full drink menu here. For now, the Pagoda Bar is open only on Thursday through Saturday from 6pm-12am.
