City Beat, Sports

Last month Dodger fans were notified of the cancelling of the Dodger Fan Rewards Club. The company, Sports Loyalty Systems, they had teamed with to build the program, was no longer. I felt very much ripped off. I joined the Hall of Fame membership. The most expensive entry level, the one that came with the most initial bonus points. I wanted to take batting practice with Manny Mota! I was on my way to the big leagues!

Well, I was about a third of the way there anyway. Using the online store to earn bonus points, buying gas at 76 stations, using my credit card at the stadium. But you know what I got? 4 free Infield Reserve tickets. Valid only between Mon-Thu. Oh and except 4/9/07, 4/26/07, 4/30/07, 7/4/07, and 9/27/07. They also offered up presale access to regular season, thanks got my season tickets already. And also access to MLB.com Gameday Audio for the 2007 regular season. eh… radio is free too.

These are tickets I already have because I am a season ticket holder. What do I want with 4 more tickets to games I already have tickets to? I understand they can’t give me what I was trying to save up for. But to give me something I already have and don’t need is pretty unsatisfying. I’ll sell the vouchers at work, probably make some of my intial sign-up money back. Hardly consolation for my loyalty to the program.
