The NFL; On it’s way to LA, finally?

It’s official, well sort of. More speculation, “hand shakes”, and promises of an 800 million dollar stadium abound. A business partner of developer Ed Roski Jr.’s says he has “no doubt” a National Football League team will play in Los Angeles in 2009 according to the Whittier Daily News today. Seven different teams have expressed interest coming to Roski’s stadium, but they are mum about who those teams are. Initially the team will play at the Rose Bowl for the first two years, until a $800 million stadium can be completed near the intersection of the 57 and 60 freeways. The stadium would seat 75,000 fans, have 175 suites, and could have up to 5 million square feet available for retail and commercial use.

Of course the Rose Bowl office has been reluctant to confirm any rumors, quite the cup is half empty camp through this entire process, citing needed stadium renovations and community and council support. Come on Pasadena, stop being such a stick in the mud. We like football as much as you do.
