Driving by the new Regal Cinemas the other night I noticed movie posters are up, staff being trained, and pop corn poppers being seasoned. And finally, today in my inbox the announcement. Regal Cinemas is set to open on Oct 27 with a premier screening of Micheal Jackson’s This Is It. Initially, all screens will be screening This Is It, then it will fully open the following week with a whole slate of current movies. This West Coast flagship for Regal Cinemas includes 140,000 square feet of state-of-the-art cinemas with stadium seating in every auditorium. High-back reclining seats and retractable cup holders. Each theater features digital projection and sound.
Ticket prices are a reasonable $11 for adults and $8.50 for children. Parking, available in Lot 4, is a stiff 5 dollars for 4 hours with theater validation, somewhat dampening the appeal of those cheap(er) ticket prices. Unfortunately, they don’t have assigned seating either. So don’t worry Arclight, you’re still my bestest friend ever. Buy your tickets for This Is It, Disney’s A Christmas Carol in Disney Digital 3-D, 2012, and Twilight here.

Finally they can bulldoze the Laemmle Grande! Finally a downtown theater that has more than one employee working at any given time.
