City Beat, Food, Koreatown

You’re either gonna love this place or hate it. Pizza purists will scoff, foodie adventurers will embrace it, and Pulitzer prize winning food writers have written about it. But whatever you think, Mr Pizza Factory is unique. And why shouldn’t it be? With a slogan like Love For Women and its upbeat and young Korean hipster customers. They have everything from the “New York Special” pizza topped with pepperoni, ham, mushroom, onion, green peppers to the Potato Gold topped with potatoes, bacon, beef, mushrooms, onions, corn, sweet potato mousse, cheddar cheese, nacho chips and sour cream.

I opted for the “Nude Shrimp” (pictured above, $19), with cream cheese mousse filled crust, spicy Cajun shrimp, crumbled bacon, jalapenos, olives, bell peppers, and corn. It was unique, covered with a lot of toppings, and tasty. Definitely a different experience than any other pizza I had ever had. They also have a handful of pasta dishes like the Oven Spaghetti, a casserole dish of spaghetti with sour tomato sauce baked in an oven, topped with melted cheese. The menu is filled with wild pizza combinations.

The restaurant is large and bright, with a fun atmosphere. They have a so-so selection of wine, we opted for a $13 bottle of Talus Pino Noir. Corkage says it’s $10 on the menu but Yelp lists it as no corkage. They also serve pitchers of beer which is a plus. Service was OK, they pretty much leave you alone unless you flag down a waiter. I’ve noticed this a lot in Korean owned places. $1.50 valet behind the building. It’s a welcome addition to the k-hood!
