New and Improved Laserium in Hollywood

The Laserium has a close place in my heart. We use to take trips as teenagers up to Griffith Park and listen to Led Zeppelin as we watched magical lasers in various altered states. After a long 28 year run at Griffith park the laser show made it way around town to various locations, including the Queen Mary in Long Beach. But now it’s back in Hollywood at the historic Vine Theater featuring laser light shows to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, the Beatles, and Led Zeppelin. But this isn’t the same old show we saw as kids.

The new venue will also present brand new shows with exciting and interactive technology and live entertainment featuring new bands, iconic performers and theme nights. The redesigned 424 seat theater will feature two LightDancer musical instruments, an extended stage for live performances, multiple screens and surround sound with immersive lasers and computer graphics.

It’s been several years, and the memories of what those laser shows were like at Griffith Park are foggy at best, but this new show is fun and entertaining. And while I’m sure it’s much more impressive in those, umm, altered states, it’s still fun for the whole family. I can’t wait to go back and check out the Zeppelin show.

The Laserium is open 4 days a week with shows Thu-Sun. Buying your tickets in advance will save you a few dollars. Admission in advance is $12 for adults and $10 for kids. For a full list of shows and showtimes check out their web site.
