The nights are longer and only getting colder, but that’s no reason to stay in this weekend. There are lots of fun things going on. Check out a hip-hop circus, girls fighting on roller skates, bid on one-of-a-kind movie props, hang out with some serious foodies and celeb chefs in Palm Desert or head out to the valley for some live music and a little grub.

It’s Hip-Hop under the Big Top at the Universoul Circus taking place at Hollywood Park. Join ringmaster tony tone for plenty of great music, clowns, trapeze artists, motorcycle daredevils, break dancing, acrobats, bicycle daredevils, magical illusions, lions, tigers, elephants and more. 2 shows daily during the week and 3 shows on the weekend. Tickets are $10-$30 and can be purchased online.
Nov 6-9 - Art of Food and Wine
Palm Desert
The Art of Food and Wine Palm Desert is a four-day celebration dedicated to the world’s best food, wine and art. It’s the creme de la creme of foodie events. There will be plenty of artwork, music by the B 52’s, wine, food, a golf tournament and more celeb chefs than you can shake a mixing spoon at. Prices vary but a weekend pass with golf will set you back 535 bones.
Nov 8 - LA Derby Dolls Championship Bout
Downtown Los Angeles (6pm)
It’s the banked track bout of the year as the Tough Cookies take on the Sirens at the LA Derby Dolls 2008 Championship. Lots of great music by The Abe Lincoln Story, 50 Cent Haircut, Fight Everyone and Super Duper. There will be lots of great vendors, plus food and beer. Standing room only general admission is $20. VIP tickets are $40 and can be purchased here.
Nov 8 - Premiere Props Holiday Movie Auction
El Segundo (11am)
Getting married and want to wear Katherine Heigl’s cowboy wedding bridesmaid outfit from 27 dresses? Well now’s your chance. Bid online or live in person in El Segundo on unique items from Soul Men, featuring the late Bernie Mac, will be up for bid along with many, many more fan-favorite movies. Proceeds benefit the Entertainment Industry Foundation. Make sure to sign up early.
Nov 9 - Harvest Music Festival
Tarzana (12-5pm)
Listen to live music, a farmers market, food, beer and wine at the Harvest Music Festival taking place in the Tarzana Community & Cultural Center at 19130 Ventura Blvd. Soul Dogs Rocks will perform from 3-4 pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids.
