Dig Weekend Guide – June 5-7

Welcome to the weekend. Start it off with some great dining deals on Friday and then on Saturday check out Carnevale in Venice Beach and get free entry into museums with your B of A card. There are two great wine events this weekend, the Santa Barbara County Wine Futures Tastings and the LA Wine Fest. A few other festivals this weekend include the Armenian Food Fair & Festival, the Palos Verdes Street Fair, and The Taste of Alhambra.

Friday, June 5

Enoteca Drago’s Affordable June Special Menus
Beverly Hills (12-10pm)
Enoteca Drago is offering a Three Course June Lunch Menu for $20 and Three Course June Dinner Menu for $32 all weekend long. Enjoy some of LA’s finest authentic Italian cuisine right in the heart of Beverly Hills. First course items like Caprese Salad or Swordfish Carpaccio. Main course items include Wild Sole Filet or Mozzarella Cheese, Prosciutto di Parma and Porcini Mushroom Pizza. Then choose any one of their house desserts to finish off the meal.

Yelp Restaurant Week
Miracle Mile
Its the last night for Yelp Restaurant Week, taking place mostly along the Miracle Mile corridor. Yelp has teamed together with some great restaurants to put together 3-course Prix Fixe menus specially priced from $25 to $30. Tasca, Sofi, Little Next Door, Luna Park, Cube, Messob, Susina, and others join in the fun. Menus and a full list of participating restaurants can be found here.

Saturday, June 6

Carnevale! Venice Beach
Venice (12-9pm)
Inspired by the famed Italian Carnevale, Carnevale! Venice Beach is an incredible flamboyant festival that has been celebrated for the past 7 years. It is a perfect match for such an artistic community. It brings together the colors and colors of Venice Beach and is now attracting Californians from all over who want to come join the party. Addmission is free and is located between Windward Ave. and Speedway in Venice.

Museums on Us
Los Angeles
The Bank of America free musuem program is back this weekend. For the first full weekend of every month use your bank card for free entry into museums like LACMA, Autry National Center, Discovery Science Center, Riverside Art Museum, and more. Check their web site for a full listing of museums in So Cal.

The Santa Barbara County Wine Futures Tastings
Century City (2-5pm)
The Winehound and The Wine House are delighted to announce their Santa Barbara County 2009 futures tastings at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, featuring a dazzling roster of the central coast’s famous (and soon-to-be-famous) labels. There are two different ticket options available: General Admission (2-5 pm) will be $65.00, which includes discounted self-parking. VIP tickets are limited and cost $85.00, offering one hour early admission (1-5 pm) along with paid valet parking. Tickets can be purchased by calling (800) 626-9463.

LA Wine Fest
Hollywood (2-6pm)
The LA Wine Fest returns to Raleigh Studios on Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy 500 plus wines, spirits and craft beers. Special seminars by Georg Riedel, Knob Creek Bourbon Tastings, Sake tastings and more. $55 a day or $100 for the entire weekend.

Armenian Food Fair & Festival
Montebello (12-10pm)
The Armenian Food Fair & Festival is a fun annual event featuring delicious Armenian food and pasteries, live Armenian music and dancing all day long, plus free authentic Armenian cooking demonstrations, craft booths, kids fun zone, raffles and great prizes. Entry for this event is free.

Palos Verdes Street Fair and Music Festival
Rolling Hills Estates (10am-10pm)
On Saturday and Sunday check out the Palos Verdes Street Fair and enjoy carnival rides, 200 vendor booths, carnival rides, international food court, petting zoo, and an auto exhibit. Continuous live entertainment is showcased on the Main Stage and under the Big Tent. “Tribute bands” will again bring back the sounds of the Beatles, Steely Dan, pop, country, Latin, jazz and rock groups. Sunday Jazz Festival performers feature legendary jazz pianist, Paul Smith, Mark Fitchett and Friends and other exciting jazzgroups.

Sunday, June 7

The Taste of Alhambra
Alhambra (5-9pm)
Enjoy the unlimited flavors of Alhambra’s diverse restaurants, great wines, brews, & spirits, in a fun outdoor environment! Enjoy the cigar & martini bar and dance to the sounds of MVP. Admission is $45 ($55 day of the event.) Tickets can be purchased online.

June 12 – New Orleans native and fêted jazz vocalist, arranger and composer Sandra Booker is making her eagerly anticipated return to the stage for the When Love Happens: The Loving Day Concert. The concert will take place at the Madrid Theatre, 21622 Sherman Way in Canoga Park. Tickets are $30. More info on the website.

June 13 – The 3rd Annual Italian Festival and Bocce Tournament in Hawthorne features Bocce ball, Italian food and music. 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Memorial Park, 3901 W. El Segundo Blvd.

June 13Vintage Hollywood hosts a food and wine tasting event at an exclusive Bel-Air estate, which will help benefit the Children’s Action Network. The evening will feature fine wines from across California as well as wines from Oregon, New Zealand and Argentina. Restaurants including XIV by Michael Mina, Campanile, A.O.C. and Cicada will provide culinary refreshments. In addition, a live and silent auction will take place featuring celebrity auctioneer Jay Leno.

June 14 – At Taste of the Nation, Los Angeles’ top chefs, restaurants and winemakers came together to donate their time, talent and their passion to end childhood hunger at Media Park in Culver City. This charity event helps raise money to ensure no kid in Los Angeles grows up hungry. Admission to the LA event is $125 per person.

June 20 – Enjoy 60+ microbrew beers, food samples, chili cookoff, comedy, and a live concert at Pechanga Microbrew Festival in Temecula. Sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, they will also be a silent auction at the event.

July 17-18 – Lots of wine, food, blues, sea and sun at the California Wine Festival in Santa Barbara. A unique wine tasting experience with hundreds of California’s best red and white wines, live blues music, dozens of top chefs and specialty food purveyors, gourmet appetizers, fresh cut fruits, grilled meats, artisan breads and cheeses and much more.
