Dig Weekend Guide July 25-27

This weekend, dance downtown under the stars, honor the departed spirits of your ancestors, lose your diet and chow down on sweets, and go to the cities most outrageous flea market. But whatever you do, enjoy the beautiful weekend. With highs in the mid 80’s, it’s gonna be a nice one.

July 25 – Dance Downtown – Samba (6-10pm)
Los Angeles, CA
Dance downtown at the Music Center Plaza on Friday night from 6:30-10pm. This Friday do the cha cha cha as you enjoy samba music under the stars. The Music Center is at 135 North Grand Ave. For more info check out their website. Admission is free.

July 26-27 – West Los Angeles Buddha Obon Festival (Sat 5-10pm, Sun 3-9pm)
West LA, CA
O-bon or only Bon is a Japanese Buddhist holiday to honor the departed spirits of one’s ancestors. Enjoy Japanese food, traditional dance, bonsai displays, taiko, and more. The event is free and takes place at the West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple. There is ample parking available free of charge at the Trident Center 1 block south of the WLABT on Corinth Ave. For more information click here.

July 26-27 – The American Cancer Society Relay for Life (9am-9am)
Santa Monica, CA
Relay For Life®, the American Cancer Society’s signature event, is a fun-filled overnight experience designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer. The events are held overnight to represent the fact that cancer never sleeps. Relay participants help raise money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society in its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health issue. For more info check out their website.

July 27 – Dessert Decadence (5pm-8pm)
Hollywood, CA
At Dessert Decadence leave your Atkins diet at home and get ready to mix and mingle with LA’s best chocolatiers, pastry chefs, and bakeries along with over a dozen wineries, all set to the beautiful ambiance of Boulevard 3. Price is $60 per person, tickets can be purchased here.

July 27 – American Apparel Factory Flea Market (2pm-midnight)
Los Angeles, CA
When you think of flea markets do you think of dunk tanks, slip and slides, a dance party with DJs, Cobrasnake, and a BBQ? No? That’s exactly what they’ll have along with nearly 200,000 garments starting at just $1. Early bird admission starts at 12pm and is $12, otherwise it’s $5 at 2pm. The flea market takes place at their factory downtown at the corner of 7th and Alameda (enter on Bay St). Parking sucks so carpool or bus it if you can. For more info check out the website.
