Dig Weekend Guide – Dec 5-7

Welcome to the weekend. Only a few more of these left until we break for the Holidays. Speaking of celebrating, a few bars around town are celebrating their right to serve you booze with specials on Repeal Day. You can also get all your shopping done in one fell swoop, or check out a new izakaya-style restaurant in k-town, learn how to make tamales, get drunk on wine, then throw it all up it all for free on a roller coaster at Knott’s.

Dec 5 – Repeal Day Celebration
Downtown (8pm-2am)
Cedd Moses leads the way as we celebrate the 21st amendment and the right to get drunk. Expect drinks specials all night at Broadway Bar, Golden Gopher, Coles, Redwood, The Edison, and Casey’s. 75 cent Dewar’s cocktails and other specials will be featured, plus live music at many locations. For more info check out Metromix.

Dec 5-7 – Harvest Festival Original Art & Crafts Show
Pomona Fairplex (Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 10-5pm)
Get all your holiday shopping done in one place with three days of food, entertainment and one of a kind handmade arts & crafts. Hundreds of artisans, including some you haven’t seen before – featuring truly unique products – from eye catching jewelry, colorful glassware and ceramics, hand-woven and embellished clothing, photography, specialty foods, home décor and more. Admission is $9. For more info check out the web site.

Dec 6 – Ruby Table Grand Opening Celebration
Koreatown (6pm-10pm)
Ruby Table is sure to be a new K-Town favorite. I’m already in love with their izakaya-style small plates menu. Kimchi Spam Fried Rice, Miso Shiso Kurobuta, Hawaiian Roll Mini-Burgers, and pitchers of Kirin for $13. Along with the tasty food, on Saturday enjoy $1 drafts, $5 pitchers, a DJ and the Bud Girls. Ruby Table is located at the bottom of Mercury building at Wilshire and Western.

Dec 6 – Tamale Posada Demo
California School of Culinary Arts (12pm-3:30pm)
Enjoy demos all afternoon to teach the different methods and flavor profiles of tamales from South America through the United States. Participants will see demos for each area and be able to watch chefs prepare tastings with side dishes and beverages as well. Participants will travel from one area to the next to experience all the flavors. Admission for non-members is $25, members are $15. For more info check out the web site.

Dec 6-7 – Bottle Rock Wine Tasting
Culver City (1pm-4pm)
BottleRock wine bar will be clearing the way for more than 40 wineries to be represented at an exclusive two-day walk-around tasting open to the public from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th. The cost to attend is $25 for one day, and $35 for both days. To make a reservation, call 310.836.9463.

Dec 6-7 – Free addmission to Knotts Berry Farm
Buena Park (Sat 10am-10pm, Sun 10am-8pm)
Bring a unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more to Knotts Berry Farm this weekend (and every weekend in Dec through the 21st) and receieve free admission into the park. Puddle of Mudd is also playing on Sunday at 5pm. Make sure to stop in at Mrs Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant and pick me up some jams and jellies for Christmas.
