Caulfield's Bar and Dining Room impresses in BH

Caulfield’s Bar and Dining Room in Beverly Hills isn’t exactly a new kid on the block. After being open for a little over a year it underwent a facelift in the dining room and in the kitchen. It’s refreshed look goes with a new chef and menu helmed by Stephen Kalt. Situated amongst the glitz and glam of some of the most expensive stores in the city, sits this unassuming restaurant by Los Angeles veterans Laurie Mulstay and Ron Marino (of Magnolia, Bar Chloe, and The Bar.) The industrial-meets-Art Deco vibe includes a 12-seat marble-top communal table, a classic bar, custom leather arm chairs, with restored vintage furniture throughout.

This is Kalt’s first foray into the LA dining scene. Kalt’s early career saw him working with the likes of Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Thomas Keller and at Le Cirque. In town after spearheading efforts at the Wynn Las Vegas alongside Daniel Boulud and Paul Bartolotta, his American Grill menu is accented by Mediterranean influences. It’s a great option for west siders and east siders looking to meet for dinner, a weekend brunch, and the perfect lunch spot after a day of shopping at nearby Rodeo Drive.

The cohesive market driven menu includes items like delicious Duck Breast with Gaviota strawberries and Padrón peppers, mouth watering House-smoked Trout in a mason jar, tender Skirt Steak grilled over Japanese Binchotan charcoal, grilled pizzettes, and a decadent Lobster Club Sandwich. Desserts like Market Strawberries with a Mascarpone Sorbet and Pistachio Cake and Sticky Toffee Pudding are expertly prepared by pastry chef Kriss Harvey.

Seasoned mixologist Jeremy Back heads up the bar program, along with bartender Pierre Dos Santos. It’s the prefect spot for a hand crafted cocktail and some small bites like crispy Tuscan kale chips or a selection of charcuterie and cheeses.

Caulfield’s is located on the first floor of the Thompson Hotel at 9360 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, California 90212. Open 7 days a week from 7:00 am – 11:00 pm.
