Keller has landed in Los Angeles. Not a celeb chef, but a celebrity in the world of chefs. Cook book author, James Beard award winner, and holder of six Michelin stars, three for The French Laundry and three for Per Se. The opening of Bouchon Bistro in Beverly Hills was a star studded event. Pierce Brosnan, Jay Leno, Ryan Seacrest, Larry King, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Don Johnson all in attendance. Dig Lounge was lucky enough to attend thanks to Urbanspoon. But it’s not about who’s who for us, it’s about the food. And Keller doesn’t disappoint.
It’s a casual set up for this grand opening gala. Cheese and charcuterie tables are set up inside, guests are brought into the kitchen directly for bites of rich French food like pork belly, caviar, pomme frites, lamb tartine, braised short ribs, croque monsieur, and other assorted finger foods. Guests are also encouraged to make their own bread, touring both the bakery and the main kitchen.
It’s an amazing restaurant, and I would imagine that reservations, at least for the time being, will be just as hard to secure as those of his other restaurants. But if you love food, and French food especially, it’s a must try.
