SugarFish arrives in Downtown LA

The stretch of 7th near Grand Ave known as “restaurant row” in downtown LA has a new face on the block. The sushi master himself Kazunori Nozawa lands in downtown with the latest extension of his ever growing mini-chain of sushi joints with SugarFish. Located in the historic Robinson Co. building that first opened in 1915, this casual-chic sushi joint will stick with the Trust Me-style menu Nozawa is known for. Offering up three different selections of omakase style ordering, including trust me, trust me light, and the Nozawa (the largest of them all).

You won’t get any crunchy rolls or scallop dynamite here. Only fresh and simple ingredients, focusing on the flavors of the fish with homemade soy and ponzu sauces. While you won’t find the sushi master himself in the kitchen, he still hand selects all of the fish. It’s sure to delight daytime office workers and local dtown dwellers with some of the best tasting, affordable sushi, that you can find in the city. SugarFish will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday.

Start off with a delicate albacore tuna, sitting in a flavorful ponzu sauce.

The sushi is some of the freshest and best cuts of fish you can eat. His handmade sauces add a nice complexity to the buttery, melt in your mouth fish.

Handrolls are made with warm rice and give the rolls a nice balance of warmth, with cool fish and crisp seaweed.

Casual but chic, SugarFIsh is a great addition to the restaurant row along 7th street.
