What was previously known as the Korean BBQ Cook-Off has been transformed into A Taste of Koreatown to better serve the entire community that is K-town. Embracing all cultures in this diverse area, the food festival will feature eats from places like BCD Tofu House, El Cholo, Palsaik Samgyupsal, Park’s BBQ, Seoul Sausage Company, and even good ol’ Papa Cristos.
Of course, what Korean food festival would be complete without beer and soju? Obviously, there is a beer garden featuring Firestone craft beers, soju cocktails, Kooksoondang makali (unfiltered soju), bokbunja (Korean red wine) plus non-alcoholic drinks. More interactive fun includes a Roll-Your-Own-Gimbap station, BCD Tofu House’s Spicy Tofu Eating Challeng, Guacamole 101 presented by El Cholo with inspired guacamole recipes like Kimchi Guac, the 4th Annual Orion Choco Pie Eating Contest, LA’s largest bibimbap and much more.
Admission is only $2, which includes a raffle ticket for prizes. Food can be purchased with cash only, so stop by the ATM on your way. The event takes place this Saturday, September 8 from 12-5pm, on Hobart Street between Wilshire Blvd and 7th St in K-town.
