Chili John’s is Burbank’s oldest restaurant. They’ve been serving chili from the U-shaped dining room since 1946. It’s trademark chili is older than Coke, first being trademarked in the year 1900. Inside, gingham curtains hang and a mural of the Rockies is painted on the wall. The chili is served from lovely silver containers in between the counter tops. Choose from beef, chicken, and vegitarian chilis. Order it mild, medium, or hot. Have it sloppy joe style, spread over a hot dog, or over spaghetti. Top it with cheese, sour cream and onions and you have yourself a little bit of heaven. The chili is thick, spicy, flavorful, and some of the best I’ve ever had.
As customers rolled in, they were greeted with a “hello Bob” and “how ya doin’ Frank?”. The service was great. They make you feel like you’ve been coming there for years, and I very well may. You can also order it to go, by the pint, pound, or gallon.
